Jesus, Alive in his Church

If Jesus isn't Lord of all that you do or plan to do, if he's not Lord of who you are or choose to become, then he's not Lord at all in your life. Jesus is not merely a signpost pointing the way to God, he is God, 'for in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled with Christ' (Col. 2:9) esv. He is not just a leader who speaks with authority, he is a King who has all authority (Matt. 28:18; 1Tim. 6:15; Rev.19:16) esv.
It's one thing to have Jesus living in our hearts and it's quite another to have him ruling there. It's one thing to have Jesus living in our Church but it's quite another to have him ruling there.
When you think of Jesus, where do you imagine him to be? Still on the cross? Whilst taking nothing away from his suffering, shed blood and his finished work of salvation, he's no longer on the cross, and he's no longer in the tomb either. God raised him from the dead! The cross is where our debt of sin to God was fully paid, nailed to the cross with Jesus. It's where the 'rulers and authorities' were disarmed in a public display of the humiliation of defeat (Acts 2:24; Col. 2:14-15) esv.
God raised Jesus up again and exalted him to the right hand of God and made him both Lord and Christ (Acts 2:32-36) esv.
Without his resurrection there can be no life for us.
If Christians are to lead a fruitful and meaningful life in Christ, it has to be with, and in, the knowledge that JESUS IS ALIVE, and that he is KING, and he wants to RULE supremely in US and in his CHURCH!
